There is something truly stunning about the Guadalupe Oak Grove Park in San Jose — the winding dirt trails, the towering oak trees, the way golden light filters through in the late afternoon. It’s one of my favorite locations for family photos in San Jose, especially for families who want imagery that feels natural, romantic, and timeless. I especially love the sandy wooden stairs surrounded by sage colored greenery and the natural organic lines that draw your eye to the horizon.
This beautiful family of five met me in San Jose for their Guadalupe Oak Grove Park family session, and from the first steps down the path, I just knew our session was going to be gorgeous. We got to my favorite spot a little later than I hoped, but the everyone was in good spirits and the light lingered just for us . We began with a simple walk beneath the oaks — hands intertwined, dresses moving softly in the breeze. As a San Jose family photographer, I’m always watching for connection over perfection. The sisters instinctively wrapped their arms around one another, fingers layered in the sweetest embrace. Those are the heirloom moments — the ones that matter years from now. And then came the twirls. The laughter. These sisters are incredible dancers and each one of their dance poses are like poetry in motion. Even in stillness, there was grace in the way they stood close, hands intertwined, dresses brushing softly in the breeze. I loved watching Dad and the little brother interact. In a houseful of girls these too are insurable.
The quiet in-between moments make family photography in San Jose feel so meaningful. One of my favorite images from this session is a close-up of delicate hands holding a small sprig of greenery — simple, tender, fleeting. It feels symbolic somehow — childhood, curiosity, gentleness. At Guadalupe Oak Grove Park, nature becomes part of the story. The soft grasses, the twisting branches, the warm earth tones — they all weave into the aesthetic so effortlessly.
